continuation of the wednesday blog ok...well i went to aacf tonite...and jody moore was the speaker again this week...he was again, awesome!.....talked about being able to conquer your sins...stop being passive aggressive about our sins, but be aggressive to overcome our sins....he gave us a description of jesus as the lion and the lamb....the lamb being the sacrifice and for our salvation....the lion being the king of your life, he has to conquer and own everything......as for reference, jacobs prophecy about judah, that he is going to conquer all, so when he does conquer all, he is going to rest......(just as a lion does after after conquering and feasting on its prey, it goes to the top of the mountain and rests).....so back to our lives, when he aggressively attack our sins and conquer it, God wil give us rest..............heres the thing....do we even try to conquer our sins?....or are we just being passive aggressive?....why do we keep running away from sin?....why do we pretend that its not in our lives?................finally, why do we get frustrated about our sin???...its because we try solve things ourselves and do things according to our will..........we keep running away from it, we continually get tired, and we dont aggressively attack our sin with God by our side.......so we do not get rest. ok well....i just turned in some hw i had due today at 12pm...and now i am studying for my midterm at 4pm....i have several hours left....hpefully i can get some basics concepts down in my mind at least...hmm..well i didnt go into work early this morning cuz i wanted to sleep in since i wasnt feeling all too well....i feel a little bit better now, i just want to get my midterm over with and finish the day...i'll write some more later... the tuesday blog well the studying for the midterm today didnt go as well as planned....i just wasnt feeling too well today...i had gone to work at 7am and realized i left the key to the room inside the my room yesterday...so i had to wait for my co worker who usually comes in late to work...so i opted to study at the opportune moment for a couple of hours.....then.....when my co worker finally came in, i started feelikn really tired and not well....hmmm...and so i decided to go home for lunch and then i took a small nap...it wasnt enough for me and i was still feeling out of it....so i went back to work and just sat in front of the computer and jsut chatted cuz i couldnt really do anything else....i dont think its some sort of sickness though....i am not getting any temperature or anything....hmmmmm.......well then after work i came home and took a nap for an hour....and i still didnt feel well after that, cuz i thought i would...so the studying tonite didnt go as well....hmmmmmm.....but i still have a couple hours tomorrow before the test at 4pm.....i dont think i am going to go to work early like how i would normally...i am just going to sleep in until my discussion section at 10am.....so i am goign to go to that and then study for the midterm until 4pm.....so hopefully i can cram in some more information by the time comes..... honestly i dont feel really comfortable taking the test...i am really unprepared and i know theres not enough time to study =(.... hmmmm.....well the midterm did not go as expected!...i didnt study correctly last nite...i studied all the the topics covered broadly...so when i took the midterm....the whole test was based on ONE TOPIC and in depth...so didnt know that much in that specific topic and not even to the depth she tested on....grrr!...oh well..the test was only worth about 15% of our grade...so not too bad....at least i kinda know what to expect for the final now...hmmmmm hmmm...well...guess what today was....another day of flag football!....yes.....time to be a thug you say??....noooo!....just play as hard as you can....thats all.....well, we played some frat today, they were weak!...again, i played defensive line and i rushed the quarterback and gave him all kinds of pressure....although i did not get a sack today like i wanted to =(....i wanted to get like 4 sacks today...but i didnt get any....although i made him hurry alot and run away.....hehe......ok...the stats for the day....... 0 sacks 0 incidental contacts countless number of hurries 2 tackles (flag grabs) 1 catch for about 20 yards ***i need to get some more sacks.....wait till next week! well i have a midterm tomorrow for ICS 156...computer networking...hmmmmmmmm...i studied some tonite and made my 2 pages of cheat sheets...i am jsut not exactly sure what is going to be on the test or how the professor is going to ask her questions...i dont think this test is making me as stressed as the ICS 143 midterm would be on wednesday...now that class i know very little about....so i am pretty worried about that....i am goign to start studying for it tomorrow and tuesday for it....the class i said before, its a joke...the discussion leaders are not good at all...and over half the class hasnt even started studying yet...so i am not alone in this situation...its a little more comforting to know that, but its also pretty pathetic...oh well....i have no good stories to say right now....but just this one, eat chocolate, i hear its brain food...hehe.. the saturday blog well today...i went to go to the gym and played basketball, and then i went to go watch the UCI rugby team play an exhibition game...they were playing against Cal Tech...i usually dont go out to watch UCI sports team play, but i was in rugby last year, so i wanted to go out today and watch since they played here at school...it was pretty interesting watching from the sidelines rather than being in the game...there were only a few ppl watching, me, some other rugby heads that played last year, and girlfriends of players on the field...hmmmm...then i witnessed someone getting hurt (not unusual) but when they carried him to the sideline they found out he broke his ankle...and i looked at it, it looked like some big ol egg on the side of his ankle (where that knob is located down there)...it was pretty broken i might say....hmmmmm...i kinda missed playing...hmmm, i kinda wanted to go out and play again, but i dont want to committ to all that time for practicing, whew!...it does take alot of time....but i was looking at our players after the game, and the majority of them looked really out of shape...not that i am in shape, but better than some of these guys who were huffing and puffing the whole game...i know i could get into the cardio shape needed for the game, but like i said before, i cant committ to all that much time for practices...i wish i could, but i have other obligations and committments that would most likely be interfered with....but we'll see how things work out next quarter though....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm (contemplating contemplating)... the friday blog hmmm...i seem to write my blogs for the day pretty late.....not in time for real day of the blog....oh well....hehe.....well let me just tell you about this class i have....ICS 143, operating systems...it is one of the biggest jokes (class) ive had in my student career at UCI...well at least the class i had attented this afternoon...let me tell you about it...first of all, the TA comes in and gives us a pop quiz, (not really a surprise)...but what really was a surprise was that he treated the quiz as a final...(quizzes are worth nothing for your grade by the way) and when we collects the quizzies back, he counts them by each row (wasting so much time)....so after all that is done, (the class is getting restless) he wastes more time talking about nonsense issues....and someone finally spoke up and told him to go on with the discussion....and so he goes over some questions from the previous quiz we had, and when he got to a certain question that was ambiguous, a few ppl argued with his against his answer, and apparantly at the end of the argument, he was wrong!...ugh!...you guys just had to be there...(frustration of the day) i went to church tonite, and my friend sandra came back from up north, and so she is back for about a week down here...and after church we went to go get some stuff at shau mays on the corner of garvey and garfield...so it was good chatting and just seeing what was up with each other...i come back to irvine and my hoodlum roommate seems to have been taking interest to grunge music he sees on MTV...system of a down - chop suey...he likes that and has been listening to it (listening to it right now)....OH!..and he knows that i like listening to alot of R&B, slow jams and stuff, and he highly recommended me to get this one song...i might say, it is pretty good!....surprisingly from who sings it....hmmmm....i cant say what the song is right now, because ppl have stolen my jams before and i dont want this one to slip away that easily....but if you're nice i might tell you what it is...gotta message me though (sn = raphman02)...haha! the thursday blog i just choked...i was playing co-ed basketball intramurals tonite, we were up by 3 points and i stole the loose ball and ran down to our court and i got fouled with 13 seconds left...all i had to do was make one of my free throws and we practically win the game...so it was 1-1 (i have to make the first FT to get the second FT) and i missed the free throw!...and they rebounded the ball and called timeout...and they eventually made a 3 pointer to tie the game and we lost in overtime by one point....i choked!, i couldve made the free throw and the game would have been over...oh well...if you are reading this, message me (sn = raphman02) and tell me "YOU CHOKED"...hehehe......JK!....dont do that...that would hurt...haha!.....anyways....let me know you are reading these blogs i write....makes me just want to write some more interesting things to keep you entertained...let me know how you guys like my web design...i am trying to get better...so message me!...hehe. the wednesday blog well when i woke up this morning, i was so surprised because i wasnt as tired as the previous mornings...so i had no problem of getting to work at 7am this morning...i didnt really think that i slept that much either...hmmmm.....OH!.....i had 2 lunches today!....after i came home from class at 11am, i cooked lunch for myself at my apartment and then when i went to work, as i was about to go to my room, otina (an employee that handles the paychecks) asks me if wanted to have some food, cuz they ordered alot of pizza and had fruits and salads as well....i was like...SUUURRRE!!.....free food, you cant turn it down...thats all i got to say. well tonite, i went to aacf, and the speaker was really awesome!....it was pastor jody moore...he was really great!...he spoke about our theme (He must increase, I must decrease) of the passage John 3:30...he was just so passionate about God and very animated when he spoke....i talked to my friend henry earlier and he told me that the speaker was going to be really great, so i was already looking forward to the message before i arrived to aacf...he spoke about how our pride gets in the way of letting go of everything for God...and about how we try to twist Gods will for our lives into making it our own will and desires for our own lives...therefore HE MUST INCREASE, and I DECREASE. this is actually the tuesday blog i was extremely tired when i woke up this morning....630am!...went to work at 7:15am....hmmm, well at work...i didnt do that much...well i was witnessing some employees trying to fix this movie theatre sound system that was recently installed in one of the training rooms....well they got it working but the center speaker was busted and so we coulnt hear any dialog at all...just music and detailed sounds....hopefully we would start watching some dvds in there soon when they get that speaker fixed up...then my friend matt IMs me and read my blog previous to this one, about the football incident...he calls me a thug...i swear it was unintentional...i am not a THUG...i just played just a little aggressive...thats all...its football..cmon! well for dinner, loriann (aacf staffer) and suzy came over and i made some boboli pizza....hawaiin style and this chicken, mushroom, green pepper pizza...pretty good i might say....hmmm...while we were eating, we watched this movie called 'chocolat'....it was my roommates movie...he got it from china for maybe about a dollar or less...a ripped off VCD...and so when you play it, if you just gotta keep your eyes off the chinese subtitles, then its all good!....its almost like a real DVD then right?...hehe...anyways...so it was about a 2 hour and some minute movie, and we were 2 hours into it, when the climax of the movie was just starting....and guess what happened!....it stopped!!....apparently they couldnt fit all the movie into that CD!!!.....and there was no part 2 VCD!!....and we were left hanging!!...i cant say it was a good movie cuz i dont even know how it ended....man!....do i have to rent it now???....ugh....anyways..... so about 8pm or so...i had to leave and go to my study group and finish up my hw that is due on wednesday....and i am almost done...just need one more question and i will turn it in tomorrow....now i am going to go to sleep.... ok....this is the real monday blog well i woke up this morning wanting to go back to sleep...but i had obligations....i have an 8am class!!....monday 8am!...can you believe that?....anyways....i went and turned in my hw and sat through the lecture...i look around once in a while and i see half the class dozing off while some other students are eagerly learning about what happens in an ICMP redirected message....but anyways, that wasnt the highlight of the day, just the morning... so this afternoon, i had a flag football intramural game at 4pm...and as our team was getting hyped up to play, we found out who our opponents were, and they looked like some weak freshman team coming out from the dorms...and we just wanted to come out and win big cuz we lost last week to the lambdas (game which we should have won)....so this week i get to play defensive lineman (means that i just rush the quarterback and give me all kinds of pressure to get rid of the football)...and sure enough the first play of the game, SACKED!!...by whom?...ME!!.....sacked him in less than 2 seconds, and he didnt know where i popped out from...so 2 plays after, they decide to punt, and we get ball for our first possession series...and what happens next, our quarterback, steve runs it in for the touchdown....so thats pretty much how the game went for us....but in the second half, things got a little out of hand...just a couple temper flare ups, so when that happens, contact starts happening (this is supposed to be as contact-free football as possible)...but we kept our cool as much as we could cuz we couldnt afford to get a unsportsmanlike rating at the end of the game to jeopardize our playoff status....well, i admit i was involved in one contact play (but it wasnt intentional!)...well this is how it went...when the other team snapped the ball, i rushed the quarterback and he moving backwards and he pitched the ball to one of his receivers s he can throw the ball downfield, and so i quickly rushed to him and as he was throwing the ball, i thought i could block the ball as soon as he threw it...and as he was about to throw the ball, i jumped as high as i could, but my momentum was still moving forward, and then as i was coming down, i landed on him and he fell pretty hard to the ground...ooops....well i helped him up and he was alrite...so it wasnt intentional, i swear...but as a punishment i got a 10yd. penalty for that....the other highlight for me was the last play of the game, i came in as a receiver and when we snapped the ball i just ran a long route and caught a bomb that steve threw to me and i scored a touchdown!!...first career intramural touchdown for me!...woohoo!.....so the stats for the game for me were 2 sacks, 1 touchdown, countless number of hurries, and i forget how many penalties =)...oh well...we ended up winning of course and we got a 2.5 out of 4 sportmanship rating and the other team got 1.5 cuz they played dirty in the second half... so these were the highlights of my day...until next time! ok....so i made a blog for saturday on monday...i might as well make a blog for sunday too.... so after church on sunday, we had this thing called community day up at or parking lot and so the different fellowships made different game booths...for us, emmanual, we had the penny toss booth...we had butcher paper placed on top of out table with circles drawn on and bowls placed in certain strategic positions...you first get 10 pennies and you have to toss them onto the table...and to win you have to toss a penny completely on a circle and if you get a penny in a bowl you get lollipops...great game right!?!...of course!...we attracted more adults than kids, and they kept going back in line in hopes of getting lollipops! the alpha booth i might say was pretty elaborate, they had this board with circles on them (but of course our table had cirlces on the butcher paper too) and you have to throw a bean bag throught the circles to win...so good job to jonathan and his dad for making this great booth....one of my buddies 'tried' to pull a fast one on me by throwing a penny at me and tried to play it off!..but of course with my quick reflexes, YOU GOT CAUGHT!...grrr!..so all in all it was pretty cool, just i just wished that it could have been better publicized so that more kids could come out... at night i went to maggianos at south coast....for a brithday dinner for kathy and andrew....some italian place and they have this thing where you can have an all you can eat dinner special...but they didnt have the stuffed mushrooms or stuffed clams!....oh well...maybe next time.....so it was pretty good, but i had to leave early to get some hw done for school.... i tried to make a blog for staurday, but today is monday and i dont know how to go back in time.....so i will just tell you about my saturday, today on monday.... well saturday was pretty chill for me...i watched alot of football and i had witness USC trying to pull off a fake punt which failed miserable, a play that which turned the whole game around and eventually lost....and i switched back to the oregon and stanford game, and it was a shootout right from the start!....21-21 just in the first quarter!...and in the end result....oregon lost and the dream to play for the national championship ends up being just a dream...so this paves a way even wider for UCLA and their road to the national championhip game, but they have a tough schedule ahead of them and hopefuly they wont choke........i couldnt finish the game because i had to go to costco with my dad to get some supplies and groceries. well i finally set up this blogger thing...its pretty cool to have your blogs automatically FTP'ed to your site and all...makes things alot easier!...so today at work, i was 'working' on my personal website redesign...i been getting alot of influences from my roomates in their website designs...james and ryan...but just watch, i will come out with my own design soon, once i decide what to do... so after work i went to south coast mall for a little bit, and i got a pair of khaki pants and a dress shirt, and i went to the levis store afterwards and purchased a short sleeve button shirt...all of which were on sale!...but i took a while at structure cuz i wanted another pair of khaki pants, but they werent on sale and they were a bit baggy for being khaki pants...although!, they were really really comfortable!...so i got into this debate with myself of whether or not i should buy these pants as well, so i was going through the pros and cons and fighting back and forth, back and forth...each side had a good argument...but in the end, my legs were getting tired and i just decided to leave those pants and just buy the pants and shirt that was on sale...since they werent on sale i think they would most likely have my size in stock so i can always get them later. ugh!...the indecisiveness! |
