by Julie Wong,

GUESS WHAT!!! I got a puppy, I got a puppy, I got puppy!!! I've always wanted a puppy that was golden brownish, furry and small. Oh yea, and one other thing, I wanted one that would NEVER grow so it would stay small all the time. NOW, I have one just like i've always wished for! PLUS, i don't have to clean up after it because it doesn't go potty either. How great it that??? Raphael got me Patrick the pup! :)

So this is how I received it...
So we were at the park and Raphael got cold (not me, but Raph), so he asked me to get him his sweatshirt from the trunk of his car. So I went and when I opened the trunk, I saw the sweatshirt nicely laid out covering something. Without paying attention to what the sweatshirt was on top of, I grabbed the sweatshirt and was about to close the trunk. Then I noticed PATRICK the pup! It had a note saying, "BARK BARK BARK! Take me Julie." I was surprised and was excited I got a puppy. I went back to Raphael to say thanks and give him his sweatshirt, and he wasn't even cold! Sneaky!!! hahaha. All I want to say again is "THANKS!" to Raphael!! :)

While travelling through the streets of vietnam, you can get some SERIOUS cases of the "RUNSSS" if you arent careful. But if you do catch this mild case of this illness, there are stores waiting to service for you just down the street. Just look at my friend Patrick, he is relieved.

ONLY IN VIETNAM!!!

Over the past few months, I have been thinking about joining the Peace Corps. A 2 year program where you are placed in another country on a service project, whether its doing something agricultural, teaching, health, etc. You are placed out of your comfort zone and must learn the language and culture of that area. A great learning experience and a great way to open your eyes to the world will change the way you perceive yourself and others. You get to travel around, live with a host family, try new and different things you are not accustomed to. Your student loans can get deferred and you will get a government stipend by the end of your program. Although it is really hard to get in, but most can qualify if you have the desire to go out and make a change in the world. I have been thinking about just applying and see if I can even qualify. But as of late...looking at the brochures, reading people's testimonies, other people's opinions about this program, etc......

I have decided that I will not apply for it. Reasons are....that the majority about peace corps is politically secular (not something I want to be a part of), and to be placed all alone somewhere, it would be very difficult to have that support that you need mentally. This did sound something that I wanted to do before, but now I just dont have the heart for it anymore. I do have a heart for people and to try to make a helpful change for others, but not in this Peace Corp program. So all the brochures and booklets I have about peace corps is going to the trash because I am scratching it off my life list.

Well I am going to be taking off to Europe this Friday. Just going by myself. I forgot what it felt like to go somewhere and just travel. A mixutre of excitement, anxiousness, and adventure comes to play. I remembered those feelings from when I was in South East Asia travelling all over the place about 2 years ago.

Will be travelling to the UK and France for the next 2 weeks. Wish maybe I could go longer, but its ok. 2 weeks is good enough for me for now. Hopfully I can get around France without speaking a word of French. "Wee Wee"
